EDUCATION.
Find your SPARK
What is education for?
For decades education has been about a process of ingesting information, retaining it and remembering it for a test or exam. It has been an 'Industrial process`, School-College-University-Career.
A 'standardised system', but how many of us are 'standard?'
Is that really what learning is about in the 21st century?
Employers are not looking for 'Grade A' students so much now, they want team workers, problem-solvers, independant thinkers and collaborative employees.
So how do we help young people on their journey towards this?
How do we help them find their SPARK?
How?
It is our belief that we need to create divergent thinkers, people who can see multiple solutions to a problem and investigate which is the most appropriate. Systems thinkers who can see the consequences of their actions on themselves and their environment.
How do we achieve this?
By creating those environments for them to learn and experiment in- at their own pace, guided by their own interests. Projects, experiments, collaborations, active learning, sustainable systems learning, self regulation.
It is our belief that once we can create this environment then the 'academic' learning will happen naturally and we can attach parts of the Swedish curriculum to it.
